Steelwater builds software for healthcare environments. We need an engineer to build the data layer for a product entering hospital pilot next year.
The work
Build the Cloudflare Workers endpoint that receives event data over HTTPS, store it in D1, and produce aggregate reporting on top of it. The data model is the substance of the role: how events relate, how they aggregate by site and clinical unit, and how a report reaches a non-technical administrator without ever resolving toward an individual.
A Workers and D1 setup already exists from an earlier phase. Reviewing it is in scope and time-boxed; you are not inheriting it.
The constraint that defines this role
The product collects no PHI, no patient data and no personal identifiers. There is no login and no token that survives a sitting, so nothing links one use to another. Reporting is aggregate by design, and disclosure control is enforced inside the query rather than applied by hand afterwards.
The interesting problem is producing genuinely useful reporting for organizational leadership while collecting nothing that could identify an individual. If that reads as a constraint to work around rather than a problem worth solving well, this is not the right role.
You should have
Production experience with Cloudflare Workers and D1, or equivalent serverless platforms. Schema design and data modeling as a core skill, not an adjacent one. The judgment to flag an ambiguous requirement before building against it.
Healthcare experience is not required. Care about data minimization is.
How this runs
A paid specification review comes first, at an agreed hourly rate with a fixed cap, before any implementation is quoted. A complete written specification already exists. You read it and return questions, gaps, and anything you would build differently. If we proceed, that specification is the fixed-price baseline and the engagement is milestone-based against it.
Specification review begins in October. Implementation runs to a January target.
This is a bounded engagement for the pilot. Whether it continues depends on how the pilot goes, and we would rather say that plainly than imply otherwise. Full details are shared under NDA.
