About the Role
Crexi is seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the company's investment strategy, capital allocation, strategic investments, and market expansion initiatives.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the CIO will be responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, developing capital strategies, analyzing market opportunities, and supporting long-term business growth across commercial real estate technology and digital marketplace solutions.
The ideal candidate combines institutional investment expertise, strong financial judgment, and strategic leadership with experience in real estate, technology, capital markets, or asset-driven businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company's investment strategy and capital allocation framework.
Identify and evaluate strategic investment opportunities across commercial real estate, technology, marketplaces, and related sectors.
Lead investment analysis, financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and transaction evaluation.
Evaluate acquisitions, strategic partnerships, investments, and corporate development opportunities.
Develop investment theses based on market trends, financial performance, competitive positioning, and long-term value creation.
Analyze business models, growth opportunities, capital requirements, and investment risks.
Collaborate with executive leadership, finance, strategy, operations, product, and business development teams.
Build and maintain relationships with institutional investors, financial institutions, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
Support fundraising initiatives, financing strategies, and strategic capital planning.
Establish investment processes, portfolio monitoring frameworks, and performance measurement standards.
Monitor commercial real estate markets, technology trends, capital markets, and emerging opportunities.
Provide executive leadership with investment recommendations, strategic insights, and market analysis.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience in investment management, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, investment banking, real estate investment, or related fields.
Significant senior leadership experience overseeing investments, transactions, or capital allocation decisions.
Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and investment analysis.
Experience evaluating technology companies, real estate platforms, marketplaces, or asset-based businesses.
Strong understanding of capital markets, investment structures, risk management, and growth strategy.
Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and execute strategic investment opportunities.
Experience working with institutional investors, financial partners, executive teams, and strategic stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, real estate, accounting, or related field; MBA, CFA, or advanced degree preferred.
