MERN Stack Developer

About the role
You'll be a core member of our engineering team, responsible for designing and building full-stack features across our platform. On the backend, this means crafting well-structured REST or GraphQL APIs, managing message queues for async workloads, and ensuring our servers respond fast even under heavy load. On the frontend, you'll work with React to deliver clean, performant user interfaces. You take performance seriously not just when it's a problem, but before it becomes one.
What you'll work on:
API Development - Design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs that are secure, versioned, well-documented, and scalable.
Third-party Integrations - Integrate payment gateways, CRMs, communication platforms, and other external APIs cleanly and reliably.
Traffic Handling & Scaling - Architect backend services to handle high concurrency load balancing, horizontal scaling, rate limiting, and caching strategies.
Queue Management - Implement and manage job queues using tools like Bull, BullMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar for async task processing and background jobs.
Performance Optimisation - Identify and resolve bottlenecks DB query optimisation, response compression, Redis caching, and minimising server latency.
Frontend Development - Build responsive, state-managed React interfaces hooks, context, lazy loading, and clean component architecture.
Requirements
2–3+ years of hands-on experience with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) in production environments.
Strong API design skills — RESTful conventions, proper status codes, error handling, authentication (JWT, OAuth), and versioning.
Experience building systems that serve significant traffic — you've thought about concurrency, connection pooling, and bottlenecks under load.
Practical knowledge of queue and job management — Bull/BullMQ, RabbitMQ, or Redis-based queues for handling async workflows.
Solid MongoDB skills — schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and performance tuning for large datasets.
Experience with Redis for caching, session management, and pub/sub patterns to cut response times.
Proficiency with Git, code reviews, and working in collaborative development workflows.
Familiarity with deploying Node.js apps on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean) using Docker or PM2.
