Senior Legal Counsel - Fintech

Role Description The Senior Legal Counsel – ERISA / Fintech will provide comprehensive legal support on transactional matters spanning a wide array in the capacity of 'outside general counsel' to fintech platforms and emerging technology startups, including legal advice concerning employee benefit plans, recordkeeping software, financial technology products, and ERISA compliant business structures. This full-time remote role includes drafting and reviewing transactional documents, negotiating contracts, and advising on ERISA compliance for investment vehicles and fintech platforms. The position involves identifying and addressing legal issues related to regulatory requirements, risk management, and governance, as well as preparing clear, client-facing legal advice and memoranda. The Senior Legal Counsel will collaborate directly with clients, support due diligence and deal execution, and help develop practical frameworks for emerging fintech platforms.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Law and demonstrated experience with ERISA, financial services, and fintech regulatory frameworks.
Proficiency in Contract Negotiation, including structuring, reviewing, and finalizing investment, vendor, and service agreements.
Expertise in Legal Document Preparation, such as drafting transactional documents, policies, disclosures, and compliance materials.
Ability to identify, analyze, and manage complex Legal Issues across impact investments, venture capital, and fintech operations.
Experience providing clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams in a fast-paced environment.
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Several years of relevant post-qualification experience in ERISA, investment management, or fintech at a law firm or in-house role.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Experience with investing, venture capital, or startup ecosystems is highly beneficial.
