About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About DFW CPG
DFW CPG is a volunteer-led, volunteer-run community serving early-stage and emerging CPG brands across Dallas-Fort Worth, connecting brands with retailers, industry experts, sponsors, and each other. The community is comprised of founders, practitioners, and those genuinely interested in the future of the CPG industry.
Position Summary
The Social Media & Community Manager owns DFW CPG's day-to-day presence across social channels and helps bring the organization's events and programming to life online. This is a part-time, junior-level role suited to someone early in their social media career who wants hands-on experience running channels for an active, growing community. The role works closely with the Marketing Chairperson, the Executive Director, and the Events team, but is expected to operate autonomously — proactively identifying what content is needed, chasing down assets and information, and getting posts out without heavy oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Channel Management
Plan, create, and publish content across DFW CPG's social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, and others as relevant), maintaining a consistent posting cadence and voice.
Build and manage a content calendar in coordination with the Marketing Chairperson, aligned to the organization's events, sponsor commitments, and community news.
Monitor channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond or flag to the right person in a timely way.
Event Coverage & Asset Capture
Attend DFW CPG events in the DFW area to capture photos, video, and other social assets in real time.
Coordinate directly with the Events team ahead of each event to understand what's happening, who's involved, and what content opportunities to prioritize — proactively requesting the details needed rather than waiting to be handed them.
Turn event coverage into timely posts and recaps, including sponsor and speaker recognition where appropriate.
Community Engagement
Help grow and engage DFW CPG's online community, encouraging member and sponsor participation and highlighting brand stories from within the community.
Support newsletter and website content as needed, in coordination with the Marketing Chairperson.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work with the Marketing Chairperson on overall brand voice, messaging priorities, and content strategy.
Coordinate with the Executive Director and Executive Committee on organizational announcements, sponsor recognition, and other priority communications.
Operate with autonomy — anticipating content needs, following up with the right people to get information or assets, and keeping channels active without needing to be prompted.
What the Role Requires
Some hands-on experience managing social media accounts (personal, brand, or organizational) — this is a junior-level role, not a senior marketing hire.
Comfort with content creation tools (e.g., Canva, native phone photo/video editing) and familiarity with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn best practices.
Based in or near the DFW area, with the ability to attend in-person events to capture content.
Self-starter who can work independently, manage their own time, and proactively chase down what's needed rather than waiting for direction.
CPG, retail, or food/beverage industry familiarity is a plus, but not required.
Reporting & Time Commitment
This is a part-time, paid contract role (compensation commensurate with experience) reporting to the Marketing Chairperson, with regular touchpoints with the Executive Director and Events team.
Estimated time commitment: 8-10 hours per week, but may vary with the event calendar, which could mean heavier weeks around major DFW CPG events.
