About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join Vanguard’s analytics team. In this role, you will lead complex data analysis projects, utilizing advanced statistical, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to inform strategic business decisions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business challenges, develop hypotheses, and translate requirements into actionable insights. Your expertise will support the development of innovative models and solutions that enhance Vanguard’s offerings and operational efficiency. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous learning and development.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in analytical roles, with a strong background in data wrangling, programming, and statistical modeling.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data access, transformation, and analysis.
Experience with machine learning techniques and statistical methods required.
Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. A graduate degree is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop complex queries and perform extensive programming to access, transform, and prepare large datasets for statistical modeling.
Lead and execute diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven decision making within the organization. Mentor and develop junior team members.
Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, document data assumptions, and proactively address data gaps to ensure data integrity.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business processes, develop hypotheses, and translate business requirements into structured analytical approaches.
Design and guide testing, research, and model validation processes. Provide statistical consultation and serve as an analytics expert on cross-functional teams for strategic initiatives.
Prepare and deliver insightful presentations, communicating complex analytical results and actionable recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Participate in special projects, contribute to the growth of Vanguard’s analytics community, and perform other duties as assigned.
