Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a GCSE and A-Level English Tutor. The tutor will deliver engaging online lessons that cover key English curriculum areas, including literature, language, and exam techniques. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and structuring lessons, assessing student strengths and areas for improvement, and adapting teaching strategies to individual learning styles. The tutor will provide feedback on written work, help learners develop strong reading and analytical skills, and support them in preparing for school assessments and external exams. Regular communication with students and, where appropriate, parents or guardians is expected to track progress and adjust learning goals.
Qualifications
Proficiency in English Teaching and Tutoring, with experience supporting GCSE and A-Level learners.
Skills in Online Tutoring, including the effective use of digital platforms and tools for remote learning.
Strong command of English Grammar and the ability to explain concepts clearly and accessibly.
Excellent Communication skills for delivering lessons, providing feedback, and engaging with students and families.
Relevant academic background in English, Education, or a related field; degree-level study is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with UK GCSE and A-Level English syllabi and current exam requirements.
Ability to design structured lesson plans, set achievable learning objectives, and monitor progress.
Demonstrated patience, empathy, and commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching practices.
Reliable internet connection and a suitable environment for delivering online lessons.
Ideally holding a PGCE/QTS with examiner experience
