Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chess Coach role based in Bengaluru. The Chess Coach will conduct individual and group training sessions, teach chess fundamentals and advanced strategies, and guide learners through opening, middle-game, and endgame concepts. Responsibilities include assessing player strengths and weaknesses, creating personalized improvement plans, preparing learners for tournaments, and providing constructive feedback on games. The coach will also organize practice matches, maintain training records, communicate regularly with learners and families about progress, and support academy events, workshops, and competitions.
Qualifications
Strong practical chess skills, with experience in competitive play and a solid understanding of openings, tactics, strategy, and endgames.
Proven ability to teach or coach learners of varied ages and skill levels, using clear explanations, examples, and structured lesson plans.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, encouraging, and professional coaching style.
Organizational skills to plan training schedules, track learner progress, and prepare students for tournaments and rating events.
Familiarity with chess training software, online platforms, and digital tools for analysis and practice is beneficial.
Experience working with children or young adults in educational or sports settings is an advantage.
Recognized chess titles, ratings, or certifications (national or international) are preferred , minimum fide rating of 1500 plus is required
Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, collaborate with academy staff, and support weekend or event-based activities when needed.
