About The Role
Zenius is hiring audit analysts to work on single audit and Office of Inspector General audit reports on Federal grant awards. You will retrieve and reconcile audit submissions, review every report against a quality checklist before the resolution work starts, sort findings into the treatment each one warrants, assemble the evidence behind each determination, and track corrective actions through to closure.
This is a detail role with a production standard attached. The work is high volume, and the accuracy bar is absolute: every finding that leaves our hands must tie to a specific regulation, statute, or award term, and you are the first person to check that. If you are the sort of person who notices that a questioned cost figure in the schedule does not match the one in the narrative, you will do well here.
What You Will Do
Retrieve audit submissions on a scheduled cadence, verify each record against the source data, and prepare the load into the client's audit tracking system.
Reconcile every batch so that what was retrieved equals what was loaded; log exceptions and clear them within five business days.
Perform the quality control review on each report before resolution work begins: confirm the package is complete, confirm each finding identifies the correct program, and confirm the auditor's citations and questioned cost amounts are internally consistent.
Return incomplete or inconsistent packages to the grantee or auditor with a specific, written deficiency notice.
Apply the approved rules that sort findings into treatment tiers, and record the reasoning for every assignment so it can be reviewed.
Prepare batch dispositions for reports with no findings against the client's programs, and sample them before they go forward.
Assemble the evidence file behind each determination package: the finding as reported, the governing requirement cited to the version in effect for the grantee's fiscal year, the corrective action plan, prior-year status, and questioned cost figures with source pages.
Track corrective action milestones, request and evaluate grantee evidence of completion, and prepare closure records.
Sample and approve output produced by the automation platform, route anything below the confidence threshold for full human review, and report extraction errors so they get fixed.
Log and triage technical assistance questions from grantees and program staff, drafting routine written answers that cite the applicable requirement.
What You Bring
Five or more years in Federal grants administration, grant compliance, audit support, accounting, or auditing, including at least two years working directly with single audit reports, OIG reports, or Federal award compliance documentation.
Working knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200, particularly Subpart F, and the structure of a single audit reporting package, including the Schedule of Findings and Questioned Costs and the Summary Schedule of Prior Audit Findings.
A track record of accurate document review at volume against a checklist or written standard.
Spreadsheet fluency for reconciliation and analysis: lookups, pivots, and filtering large extracts.
Writing clear enough that a deficiency notice or a file note goes out without rework.
A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and certifications.
S. citizenship and eligibility for a Federal Public Trust background investigation.
Nice to have
Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS), or active progress toward it.
Hands-on experience with Federal Audit Clearinghouse data, an agency audit tracking system, GrantSolutions, the Payment Management System, or a comparable Federal grants system.
Prior Federal service in the 1109 grants management or 0510/0511 accounting and auditing series, or the contractor equivalent supporting a Federal grantmaking office.
Experience reviewing machine-generated output under a human-in-the-loop standard, including sampling and error reporting.
Data skills beyond spreadsheets, such as SQL or Power BI.
