Role Description The Doctoral Researcher in Computer Science will engage in full-time, on-site research based at SRMIST’s Kattankulathur campus in Chengalpattu. Daily responsibilities include designing and conducting original research, developing and implementing algorithms or systems, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing results in peer-reviewed venues. The role involves collaborating with faculty supervisors and research teams, contributing to grant proposals, and presenting work at seminars, workshops, and conferences. The researcher may support limited teaching or mentoring activities, such as guiding project students or assisting in lab sessions, while maintaining a primary focus on doctoral research goals. The position requires proactive engagement with the academic community and consistent progress toward dissertation completion.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in core computer science areas such as algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and computer networks.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java) and experience with software development tools and version control.
Research-oriented mindset with skills in problem formulation, literature review, experimental design, and data analysis.
Familiarity with relevant research domains such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, distributed systems, or cybersecurity (domain-specific expertise is a plus).
Ability to write clear technical documents and research papers, and to present complex ideas effectively in written and spoken English.
Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from a recognized institution; exceptional four-year or integrated degree holders may be considered as per SRMIST norms.
Demonstrated academic excellence, prior research experience, publications, or participation in research projects is highly desirable.
Capacity to work independently and collaboratively, manage time effectively, and maintain ethical standards in research.
