Role Overview:
Site-based engineering role for execution and supervision of sewer network laying, connections, and allied civil works on ongoing infrastructure projects. Strong hands-on sewer network experience is the core requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise sewer pipeline laying, jointing, and testing as per approved drawings and specifications
• Ensure correct levels, gradients, and alignment for gravity sewer lines
• Coordinate excavation, bedding, dewatering, and backfilling for deep trenches
• Supervise HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) operations for road/river/obstruction crossings
• Monitor manhole construction, drop connections, house service connections, and chamber works
• Oversee pipe jointing methods (rubber ring/solvent/welded/HDPE fusion as per pipe material) and joint testing
• Conduct hydraulic testing, smoke testing, and CCTV/leak inspection of laid sewer lines as required
• Track material consumption (pipes, fittings, cement, etc.) against BOQ
• Coordinate with subcontractors and labor gangs for daily progress
• Maintain site records — measurement books, daily progress reports, material registers
• Liaise with billing engineer for RA bill measurements and certification
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during trenching, HDD, and pipe-laying operations
Qualifications:
• Diploma/B.Tech in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 2–3 years of dedicated, hands-on experience specifically in sewer network / underground drainage pipeline execution (internships not counted)
• Strong practical knowledge of sewer pipe-laying methods (RCC/DI/HDPE/PVC), gradient and invert level setting, and manhole construction
• Working experience with HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) for trenchless crossings preferred
• Prior experience in government infrastructure projects is required
• Familiarity with measurement book (MB) recording
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, AutoCAD viewing)
Preferred:
• Exposure to water supply/sanitation scheme works
