Role Description The Fiber Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ahmedabad. The technician will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and related infrastructure, ensuring stable and high-quality connectivity for customers. Day-to-day tasks include routing and laying cables, terminating connections, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting network issues on-site. The role involves reading technical diagrams, using fiber testing equipment, documenting work performed, and coordinating with supervisors or project leads to complete assigned jobs. The Fiber Technician will also follow safety standards, maintain tools and equipment in good condition, and provide clear communication regarding service status and findings.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of Cables and Cabling, including installation, termination, and routing techniques.
Experience working with Fibre and Optics, including splicing, testing, and handling fiber optic components.
Ability to perform Troubleshooting for connectivity issues, signal loss, and hardware faults in fiber networks.
Knowledge of basic networking concepts, fiber testing tools (e.g., OTDR, power meters), and safety practices for field work.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fiber optics or telecommunications is an advantage.
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow technical instructions and documentation.
Willingness to work on-site in Ahmedabad, including field visits, with the ability to travel locally as required.
Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
