Senior QA Automation Engineer (Playwright with Python)

About the role
We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable test automation for our web applications and APIs using Playwright with Python. You will own the automation framework, drive quality practices across agile teams, and integrate testing into our CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases.
Key responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain a robust UI and API automation framework using Playwright (Python) and pytest, following Page Object Model and clean-code principles.
Translate business requirements and user stories into test scenarios, test cases, and automated scripts.
Build and maintain regression, smoke, and end-to-end test suites across Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit.
Automate REST API testing using Playwright's request context and/or the requests library, including schema and data validation.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps) with parallel execution and environment-based configuration.
Analyze test failures using traces, screenshots, videos, and logs; reduce flaky tests and improve suite stability.
Produce clear test reports (Allure or pytest-html) and communicate quality status to stakeholders.
Participate in sprint planning, story grooming, and code reviews; advocate shift-left testing with developers.
Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to test strategy, standards, and best practices.
Evaluate and introduce tools that improve test coverage, speed, and reliability.
Required skills and qualifications
5–7 years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 4 years in test automation.
2+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright using Python.
Strong Python programming skills, including OOP, fixtures, decorators, and exception handling.
Solid experience with pytest (fixtures, parametrization, markers, plugins such as pytest-xdist).
Proven experience designing automation frameworks from scratch using Page Object Model or similar patterns.
Experience in API testing (REST, JSON, authentication tokens) and tools such as Postman.
Working knowledge of CI/CD tools and Git-based version control.
Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM, and browser developer tools.
Experience with SQL for backend data validation.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and defect-tracking tools (Jira, Azure Boards).
Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
Good to have
Experience migrating tests from Selenium or Cypress to Playwright.
Docker and cloud-based test execution (BrowserStack, LambdaTest, or Playwright on Kubernetes).
Performance testing exposure (JMeter, Locust, k6).
Accessibility and visual regression testing.
BDD frameworks such as pytest-bdd or Behave.
ISTQB or equivalent certification.
