Role Description The Distributed Control System (DCS) Operator is a full-time, on-site role based at the Vagra location. The role involves monitoring, controlling, and optimizing plant operations through the DCS to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. The DCS Operator will track key process parameters, respond to alarms, coordinate with field operators, and implement operating instructions to maintain product quality and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities include supporting start-up and shutdown activities, reporting abnormalities, maintaining accurate logs, and collaborating with supervisors and maintenance teams to resolve process issues. The role also requires adherence to standard operating procedures, participation in safety and operational training, and proactive support for continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong process control skills, including experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) operation and understanding of plant Process Control principles.
Candidates should possess relevant domain knowledge in refineries or similar process industries, with exposure to Distillation and continuous production environments.
Candidates should possess effective Supervisory Skills, including coordination with field operators, clear communication, and adherence to safety and operational protocols.
Candidates should possess familiarity with safety, health, and environmental standards, and the ability to follow and improve standard operating procedures.
Diploma or degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, along with prior experience as a DCS or panel operator in a chemical or refinery setting.
Ability to work in shifts, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail in logging and reporting, and competency with basic computer and plant monitoring tools are beneficial.
