ABOUT HEH
Hindusthan Electric House is a third-generation, family-run business and an authorised Siemens switchgear dealer. For decades we have supplied switchgear, spares and electrical solutions to large scale industries such as Tata Steel, NTPC, Tata Power and HPCL. We are a close-knit team, and we believe in serving customers rather than simply selling to them.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In a team our size, one capable person can run HR end to end and also be the Partner’s right hand. That is this role. You will bethe HR function, with no HR team under you, and you will keep the Partner's time, meetings and follow-ups organised. Expect roughly a 60:40 split between HR and executive support, varying week to week.
As the business evolves, the scope of this role may change over time. We want someone who welcomes that.
This role suits someone who enjoys doing the work personally, likes order and follow-through, and wants to see the direct impact of their work on a growing business.
HR AND ADMINISTRATION
• Hiring: Run recruitment end to end for roles such as sales engineers, accounts, stores/dispatch and office staff: job posts, screening, interviews, reference checks, offer and appointment letters.
• Joining and exits: Joining documentation and induction. Handle exits with sensitivity and in line with labour law: notices, documentation, handovers and timely full-and-final settlements.
• Attendance and payroll: Maintain attendance and leave records and share accurate monthly payroll inputs, advances, reimbursements and new-joiner/exit details with Accounts, who handle PF, ESI and other statutory filings.
• Policies and records: Keep employee files complete and confidential. Draft and maintain a simple HR policy handbook covering leave, attendance, conduct and travel.
• Performance: Help set KRAs for each role, run the review cycle on time, and flag training needs.
• People and culture: Be the first point of contact for employee concerns, handle routine matters fairly, and escalate sensitive issues to the Founder.
• Office administration: Oversee office upkeep, supplies, company assets and service vendors.
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANCE TO THE FOUNDER
• Manage the Founder's calendar, meetings and reminders, and flag conflicts before they happen.
• Prepare agendas, take notes in internal meetings, and track every action item until it is closed.
• Draft professional emails, letters, presentations and reports when asked.
• Follow up with team members on agreed deadlines and send the Partner a short weekly status update.
• Coordinate customer and principal meetings, visitor arrangements, travel bookings and related documents.
• Maintain organised physical and digital filing of important documents.
• Handle business, financial and personnel information with complete discretion.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS
• Every employee file and attendance record is complete and up to date.
• Every exit is handled respectfully, fully documented and closed without disputes.
• The team stays motivated and stable, and key people are retained.
• A written HR policy handbook is in place and shared with the team.
• The Partner's meetings, follow-ups and deadlines run without reminders.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
• Graduate in any discipline. MBA or PGDM in HR is preferred.
• 7 to 12 years of experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on HR operations: recruitment, attendance, documentation and payroll inputs. Experience in a small or mid-sized company (trading, manufacturing or industrial) is a strong plus.
• Has personally handled employee separations end to end, including difficult conversations, documentation and full-and-final settlements, with working knowledge of the labour law involved.
• Fluent Hindi and good written and spoken English.
• Working confidence in Excel (sorting, filters, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic pivots), Word, email and calendar tools.
• Based in Ranchi or relocating before joining, with a reliable daily commute.
• Punctuality, discretion, fairness and the habit of closing tasks without being chased.
Good to have: experience as an assistant to a promoter or MD, familiarity with an HRMS, payroll software or Tally, and exposure to B2B or industrial businesses.
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF
• You are looking for a strategic HR or HRBP role, or expect to lead a team of your own.
• You see calendar management, drafting and follow-ups as beneath an HR professional.
• You need remote, hybrid or a 5-day work week.
• Your salary expectation is above the range stated above.
• You are looking for a short-term role. We are looking for a long-term association.
• You cannot join within 7 days.
• You are uncomfortable being the single point of accountability. There is no one below you to hand work to.
We also run a punctual, gossip-free workplace where confidential information stays confidential. If that does not come naturally to you, this will not be a good fit.
HOW TO APPLY
Email your resume to services@hehindia.in with the subject line: HR-EA | Your Name | Years of Experience
In the body of the email, answer these five questions briefly:
1. Which area of Ranchi do you live in?
2. Your current and expected monthly in-hand salary. Attach current pay slip.
3. Your notice period.
4. In 3 to 5 lines, describe one HR process you personally set up or fixed, and what changed as a result.
5. In 3 to 5 lines, tell us how you handled a day when your manager gave you two urgent tasks at once.
Applications without answers to all five questions will not be reviewed. Shortlisted candidates will hear from us within 7 working days. The process is a short phone call, a 30-minute practical task at our office (drafting an email and a simple Excel exercise), and a final conversation with the Partner.
