# Senior Research Financial Analyst
## About the Role
Baystate Health is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven **Senior Research Financial Analyst** to support system-wide research financial operations. The role is suited to professionals with experience in **sponsored programs, research finance, grants management, or financial operations** who can help maintain financial integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness across a research portfolio.
Reporting to the **Senior Director of Research Operations**, the analyst will support Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) financial activities and collaborate with investigators, finance teams, and compliance stakeholders.
## Key Responsibilities
* Support the financial management of sponsored research programs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
* Prepare and analyze general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and budget-to-actual reports.
* Assist with award setup in financial systems by coordinating documentation and collaborating with Sponsored Programs Administration.
* Manage invoicing and accounts receivable to support accurate billing and timely collections.
* Develop and format financial reports and dashboards for internal leadership review.
* Contribute to bi-monthly deficit reporting and support leadership decision-making.
* Process journal entries, budget adjustments, and activity closeouts in accordance with sponsor timelines.
* Maintain knowledge of sponsor regulations and institutional policies to minimize compliance risk.
* Provide guidance and training to staff on financial reporting and financial systems.
## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in **Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field**.
* **1–3 years of experience** in research finance, grants management, or financial operations.
* Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and **Microsoft Office**.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, sponsored program regulations, and compliance requirements.
* Advanced skills in **Lawson financial systems, Excel, and reporting tools**.
* Ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

## Education & Experience

* Approved states: **Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia.**
* Location listed as Springfield, Massachusetts, with a remote work opportunity limited to the approved states above.
## Compensation
**Base salary range:** $77,064–$112,923.
The stated range represents the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salaries for positions at the applicable grade across the health system. Starting salary is typically positioned in the lower part of the range and varies based on relevant experience.
