Internship for Humanoid Robotics CAD Design and Hardware fabrication and assembly and Simulation

Role OverviewPosition: Humanoid CAD Design & Hardware Build Engineering InternCommitment: Full-time (Internship)Focus: Turning digital 3D concepts into functional, testable humanoid robot hardware.Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Modeling & Detailing: Create precise 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready 2D engineering drawings (GD&T) for robot limbs, joints, torso frames, and sensor mounts.
Rapid Prototyping: Fabricate and test mechanical parts using 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting.
Physical Assembly & Build: Assemble structural, mechanical, and electromechanical sub-systems from the ground up.Cable & Component Integration: Route internal wiring, harnesses, and mount actuators, sensors, and electronic enclosures cleanly.
Design Iteration & Debugging: Test physical prototypes, identify structural or mechanical failures, and rapidly update CAD designs to improve durability and manufacturability.Analysis & Documentation: Run basic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress and load cases; maintain clear version histories of design changes.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.Software Fluency: Strong proficiency in industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or CATIA) and basic simulation/FEA tools.
Hands-on Aptitude: Proven experience building real-world hardware projects, electromechanical prototypes, or participating in competitive robotics teams (e.g., FIRST, University Rover, RoboCup).Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using shop tools, soldering irons, hand tools, and digital multimeters for assembly and debugging.Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work tightly alongside electrical and software engineers during integration phases
