Territory Sales Representative - Hydraulic Cylinders
Tusker Global
Industry: Industrial Machinery Manufacturing
Employment Type: Full-time
Who this is for
The sale here is getting designed in. You work with a machine builder's engineers and buyers until your cylinder is specified into their product, and it then ships on repeat production orders for years.
Apply if that is your sale: cylinders, or components that go into machinery, sold into production where you are the named supplier and the volume is ongoing. It does not matter whether you sell for the factory that builds them or for a company that imports and supplies them. What matters is that you won the account on a relationship and it keeps ordering.
Please do not apply if your sale is over the counter or break-fix: one-off orders filled from stock, catalogue selling on price and availability, or supplying repair shops and maintenance departments. That is a different job and a different skill set.
About Tusker Global
Tusker Global is an international hydraulic cylinder manufacturer and supplier providing custom-engineered cylinders to equipment manufacturers worldwide. Through our group's dedicated manufacturing operations we design and build to our customers' drawings: agricultural machinery, construction equipment, material handling, trailers and attachments.
Established 2017, our group supplies 300,000+ cylinders a year to 50+ OEM partners across 20+ markets, with our US office in Dallas and support offices internationally.
We already supply a good number of US OEMs, and one of our cylinder lines is the top selling cylinder on Amazon under a different brand. What we have not done is convert that product and supply position into as many direct OEM relationships as it deserves. That is what this role is for.
Why this is a good sales job
Most sales ads tell you about the company. Here is what our numbers mean for you.
You are paid for accounts that last, not for activity. Our customer retention is 99%. In OEM component sales accounts run on repeat order cycles: open an account in year one and it is still ordering in year five.
You are rewarded for the sustained growth of what you build.
The product will not embarrass you. Every cylinder our factory ships is tested at 1.5x working pressure, and the group's defect rate runs under 150 PPM against an industry norm of 500 to 1,000. If you have ever spent a Monday apologizing to a customer for someone else's factory, you know what that number is worth.
The first order is easy to ask for. Free samples from our standard range let prospects inspect our quality before committing a dollar. Custom builds run from sensible minimum quantities with full CAD/2D/3D engineering support on the customer's drawings. Low risk entry, which means your design-in cycle is shorter than whoever is selling against you.
The factory keeps the promises you make. 8-week lead time on repeat orders, JIT supply on annual blanket POs, 12-month warranty, ISO 9001:2015 certified. You quote it, we deliver it.
The role
This is the field sales role for the US market. You are not inheriting a carved-up patch or somebody else's leftovers. Home base anywhere in the US, and the trade show calendar plus the accounts that come from it will take you across the country as needed. Although, in our business we beleive majority of your time will be spend in the comfort of your own home prospecting for new accounts and managing existing accounts.
Develop new OEM accounts: ag equipment, attachments, trailers, material handling and construction machinery manufacturers.
Own the full cycle from first contact through drawing review, quoting, sampling and production orders, then run the repeat order cycle that follows.
Engage engineering, procurement and ownership at target accounts. Most prospects are privately held short-line and mid-size manufacturers where relationships decide the business.
Work directly with our engineering and manufacturing teams on specifications, pricing and delivery. No layers between you and the factory.
Represent Tusker at trade shows across the country and at customer sites. Expect regular windshield time in the territory and national travel through the show calendar.
Success looks like opening accounts that are still ordering in year five. You will be measured on new accounts opened, pipeline development, the health of the accounts you own, and revenue growth across them.
Ideal candidate
Field sales experience (2+ years) selling hydraulic cylinders, or components and parts, to manufacturers of machinery that use hydraulic cylinders.
A track record of opening new accounts as well as holding them through repeat order cycles.
Comfortable reading technical drawings and talking specifications with design engineers.
Comfortable maintaining accurate CRM records, pipeline updates, business reporting and customer interaction logs.
Self-directed. This is a build role with full head office support, not a hand-holding environment.
What we offer
Competitive compensation comprising a market-based salary and an attractive performance-based incentive structure, tailored to the successful candidate's experience and track record.
Additionally:
Business travel and expenses covered
Paid time off plus US public holidays
Direct access to leadership and the factory. Your feedback shapes pricing, product and strategy, not a suggestion box
Full compensation and benefits are discussed during the interview process.
