Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Library Assistant role based in Delhi, India. The Library Assistant will support daily library operations, including managing circulation activities such as issuing, returning, and renewing materials, and maintaining accurate records of transactions. The role involves assisting users with locating resources, responding to information queries, and guiding them on library policies and digital catalog systems. The Library Assistant will help organize and shelve materials, support cataloging and basic data entry, and ensure the library space remains orderly and conducive to study. Additional responsibilities may include preparing materials for library programs, updating notice boards or online portals, and coordinating with academic staff to support teaching and research needs.
Qualifications
M.LIb Sc. Master of Library Information Science
M.S.C In Computer science
Knowledge of Library Services and Library Science, with the ability to support cataloging, classification, and resource organization.
Experience with Circulation activities, including issuing, returning, renewing materials, and maintaining accurate user and inventory records.
Strong Communication skills for assisting users, explaining policies, and collaborating with faculty and staff.
Proven Customer Service abilities, demonstrating patience, professionalism, and a user-focused approach in an academic environment.
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with library software or digital catalog systems.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Diploma or degree in Library Science or a related field preferred; prior experience in an academic or public library is an advantage.
