Manager – New Product Development & Technical Services

The Opportunity
We are looking for a polymer/materials professional with strong experience in New Product Development, Technical Services and Product Commercialisation.
The incumbent will work closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing and customers, taking new products from development and plant trials through customer qualification and successful commercialisation.
Key Responsibilities
Drive New Product Development projects from concept validation through commercialisation.
Plan and execute laboratory, pilot and manufacturing trials for new products and product modifications.
Support scale-up and technology transfer to establish consistent manufacturing performance.
Drive customer qualification and new-product approval programmes.
Participate in customer trials, application evaluations and technical discussions.
Investigate product/customer issues and drive resolution through structured root-cause analysis.
Establish process parameters and operating windows during plant trials.
Facilitate successful transition of newly developed products into regular manufacturing.
Evaluate and qualify alternate raw materials for product performance, cost optimisation and supply security.
Drive improvements in product performance, yield, productivity and manufacturability.
Contribute to development of sustainable and recyclable material solutions.
Prepare technical reports, product specifications, development summaries and trial documentation.
Support preparation and revision of relevant technical and customer documentation.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Technical Services, Business Development and Marketing.
Interface with customers, suppliers and technology partners on product and application development.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Candidates should preferably possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Packaging Technology, Materials Science or a related discipline, with relevant experience in New Product Development and Technical Services.
Professionals from engineering plastics, polymers, specialty materials, flexible materials, chemicals or other advanced material manufacturing businesses with exposure to product development, application development, technical services, plant trials, scale-up and commercialisation would be particularly relevant.
