Role Description This remote contract role for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist focuses on supporting location and market intelligence projects. The role requires 2-3 hours of daiy flexible working. Can be moved to a permanent part-time role after 3 months based on performance. The specialist will collect, process, and manage geospatial data, build and maintain maps, and create spatial analyses and visualizations that inform client strategies. Daily responsibilities include working with GIS software, ensuring data quality and integrity, documenting workflows, and collaborating with analysts and researchers to integrate geospatial outputs into broader market research. The role also involves preparing clear reports, maps, and dashboards for internal teams and clients, and contributing to continuous improvement of geospatial data management practices.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geospatial and market data and present clear, actionable insights.
Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and platforms, such as GeoJson, Mapbox, Openstreet Maps or similar areas.
Should have worked on the integration of Population Census of Pakistan data in Maps.
Experience with geospatial data acquisition, processing, and analysis, including spatial querying and geocoding.
Solid data management skills, including organizing, validating, and maintaining spatial databases and related metadata.
Ability to design, produce, and update maps and spatial visualizations tailored to non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Data Science, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Familiarity with scripting or programming for GIS (e.g., Python, SQL) and data visualization tools is beneficial.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
