# Senior DevOps Engineer
## About the Role
Veeva Systems is seeking experienced **Senior DevOps Engineers** to automate deployments and scale and optimize CI/CD environments. As part of the DevOps team, you will design and build the tools, frameworks, systems, and processes that engineering teams use to build, integrate, deploy, scale, and manage software.
The role focuses on **AWS cloud environments, infrastructure as code, automation, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform, observability, and high availability**. The successful candidate will bring strong technical and communication skills, experience with distributed systems and infrastructure, and a proven ability to mentor engineers and improve team capabilities.
## Key Responsibilities
* Implement DevOps practices including infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and automated deployment using AWS services.
* Design and build tools, frameworks, systems, and processes that engineers use to build, integrate, deploy, scale, and manage software.
* Build, manage, and deploy architectures using technologies such as **Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes**.
* Automate tasks across the full CI/CD lifecycle to improve developer experience and reduce manual work.
* Scale solutions from proof-of-concept environments to full production systems.
* Promote and implement observability best practices, including monitoring, tracing, alerting, and logging.
* Promote and implement high-availability practices within the software engineering group.
* Monitor the health and performance of infrastructure and applications.
* Troubleshoot infrastructure and networking issues in AWS environments.
* Participate in an on-call rotation to mitigate disruptions affecting systems supported by the DevOps team.
* Mentor team members and contribute to improving team capabilities.
* Create technical documentation and deliver presentations and demonstrations.
## Required Qualifications
* **5+ years of experience in DevOps or SRE roles**, with a focus on tooling, automation, and distributed systems development.
* **8+ years of overall software industry experience**.
* Extensive experience architecting, designing, and implementing deployments in **AWS cloud environments**.
* Strong understanding of networking and ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues in AWS.
* Experience with continuous integration tools such as **Jenkins, CircleCI, or Codefresh**.
* Experience with configuration management platforms such as **Ansible, Chef, or Salt**.
* Hands-on experience using **Terraform and/or Kubernetes at scale**.
* Strong scripting knowledge.
* Experience using monitoring frameworks to monitor infrastructure and application health and performance.
* Excellent documentation and communication skills.
* Strong presentation and demonstration skills.
* Proven mentoring experience and ability to improve team capabilities.
* Must be located in the **MST or PST time zone**.
* Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the **United States**. Veeva will not provide sponsorship at this time.

## Compensation & Benefits
* **Base Pay:** $125,000–$275,000.
