Logic Labs UK is developing hands-on engineering education through Axis-1, a modular engineering and robotics platform designed to help secondary school students develop practical engineering skills.
The company designs hardware, curriculum-aligned content, and structured learning pathways that connect theoretical engineering concepts with practical, hands-on experiences. Our approach enables students to apply engineering principles through building, testing, and experimentation.
Role Description
The Design Engineer will work remotely from Egypt on a part-time and flexible basis, contributing to the design and development of Axis-1 engineering kits and related mechanical components.
The role focuses on designing complex fixtures, mechanisms, and components for small robots and locomotives. Day-to-day tasks include creating and refining detailed CAD models and assemblies, translating customer and engineering requirements into practical designs, and developing components suitable for manufacture.
The Design Engineer will work independently while communicating closely with the wider team, iterating designs based on testing and feedback, and delivering agreed work to deadlines.
Qualifications
Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills with proficiency in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar professional CAD packages.
Strong Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering skills, including an understanding of materials, mechanisms, and design for manufacturability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into clear, practical, and manufacturable designs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and consistently deliver work to agreed deadlines.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Practical experience taking designs from CAD through to manufactured components is desirable.
Experience with additive manufacturing / 3D printing is desirable.
Experience designing for laser cutting and/or waterjet cutting is desirable.
An understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles is desirable.
Experience designing mechanisms, fixtures, or components for robotics is desirable.
Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is desirable.
