About Womed and Womed Leaf
Womed is a medical device company on a mission to transform uterine health through intrauterine treatments. Our first product, Womed Leaf®, is the first and only physical barrier that protects the entire uterine cavity against adhesions for a week after hysteroscopic surgery.
What it does: prevents intrauterine adhesions (Asherman syndrome), a leading cause of infertility and repeated miscarriage.
How it works: a thin, resorbable polymer film inserted through the cervix, much like an IUD. It unfolds on contact with uterine fluids, then dissolves and is naturally discharged, with no follow-up procedure.
Evidence: supported by the PREG1 and PREG2 trials; PREG2, a double-blind randomized pivotal trial in 163 women, met its primary endpoint and was published in Fertility and Sterility.
Approvals and reach: CE marked and FDA approved. Available across much of Western Europe and in the United States.
Role Overview
As Global Distributor Director, you will build and lead the global distributor network that brings Womed Leaf® to surgeons and patients worldwide. For strategic reasons, Womed Leaf is sold only through indirect channels, so our distributors are our commercial force in every market.
We currently work with five distributors covering key markets. Your mission is to strengthen these partnerships and expand our footprint globally: selecting the right partners, negotiating agreements, and making each one successful. You will report to the CEO and work closely with our marketing, clinical, regulatory and supply chain teams.
This is a senior, high-impact role in a growing company, with real ownership over how and where Womed Leaf reaches new markets.
Your Responsibilities
You manage Distributor Selection and Partner Onboarding
Identify and prioritize target markets together with management, based on market potential, hysteroscopy practice and reimbursement.
Scout, assess and perform due diligence on potential partners: portfolio fit, access to gynecologists and hospitals, sales capacity, financial strength and compliance.
Lead negotiations of distribution agreements, including exclusivity, territory, pricing, minimum purchase commitments and performance KPIs.
Work with legal and finance to secure contracts that protect Womed's interests and support long-term growth.
You drive Product Launch and Product Training
Build and execute launch plans with each new distributor, covering training, marketing materials and key opinion leader engagement.
Support distributors through product registration in new markets, coordinating with Womed's regulatory team.
Organize and attend international congresses, symposia, and distributor workshops.
You manage, monitor and develop existing and new distributors
Manage the five existing distributors and every new partner: set annual business plans, targets and forecasts.
Monitor sales, stock levels, market feedback and compliance; run regular business reviews and act quickly on underperformance.
Visit distributors and key accounts in the field, joining sales calls, congresses and training sessions.
Develop tailored distributor incentive programs and commercial toolkits to maximize share-of-mind and sales velocity.
Report market intelligence, competitive insights and customer feedback to management
Your Profile and Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements:
Senior MedTech Experience: Minimum 15 years of commercial experience in single-use / disposable medical devices (hospital-based sales and marketing).
International Channel Leadership: At least 5 years of demonstrable success directly sourcing, contracting, and managing international distributor networks.
Linguistic Versatility: Fluency in at least three languages (English is mandatory, plus two additional business-relevant languages).
Multicultural Agility: Proven cross-cultural competencies and international adaptability (expatriate or extensive cross-border management experience strongly preferred).
Travel Flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel internationally on a frequent basis (approx. 40–60% of time). Must be located near a major international hub airport.
Strongly Preferred / Ideal Qualifications:
Therapeutic Expertise: Prior commercial experience within women’s health, particularly in hysteroscopy, transcervical procedures, or minimally invasive gynecological surgery.
Agile Company Background: Demonstrated track record of thriving within start-ups, scale-ups, or small-to-midsize medical technology enterprises.
New Product Launch Track Record: Tangible experience introducing novel, category-defining technologies or disposables to surgeons and surgical departments.
Regulatory notions: Working knowledge of medical device registration workflows (MDR, international dossier submission basics).
Personal Attributes
Strategic & Autonomous: Comfortable making decisions independently while keeping the core executive team aligned.
Commercial Tenacity: An adept, firm negotiator who builds sustainable, win-win commercial relationships.
Relationship Builder: High emotional intelligence, capable of engaging both corporate distributor executives and surgical KOLs.
