Role Responsibilities
• Own features end-to-end—from backend services and data to the user-facing UI
• Design and operate production backend services in TypeScript (Node.js), with pragmatic use of Python where appropriate
• Build polished, usable frontends in TypeScript (React/Next.js)
• Model data and design APIs that keep backend, frontend, and AI workflows clean and composable
• Integrate our agentic AI core (Taylor) and CPA-in-the-loop workflows into reliable product experiences
• Partner with product and operations to turn ambiguous workflows into shipped features customers and CPAs actually use
• Use AI-assisted development as a default—from prototyping to debugging to system design
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance across what you own
• Own architectural decisions within your domain, balancing speed and long-term maintainability
Qualifications
Required
• Proven experience shipping and operating production fullstack systems end-to-end
• Strong across the stack in TypeScript—backend (Node.js) and frontend (React/Next.js); other typed language experience is a plus
• Solid data modeling and system design instincts, plus a real eye for UI/UX
• Ability to go from zero → one → scale with minimal guidance
• Early-stage appetite: you thrive when priorities shift fast and scope isn't always locked—you'd rather ship, experiment, and iterate than wait for a perfect spec
• You actively use AI tools as a core part of your development workflow (not optional)
• You believe the software engineer's job is fundamentally changing—and you lean into that shift
Preferred
• Experience in fintech, tax, or regulated environments a strong plus
• Familiarity with security and compliance considerations (sensitive data, auditability, access controls) a strong plus
