About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About The Shala Method
The Shala Method is a behavior change and identity-transformation approach for people ready to build durable change rather than another short-term fix. Our first program, The Shala Method: Beyond Rapid Weight Loss, supports women ages 40 to 55 who have experienced significant rapid weight loss, including through GLP-1 medications, and who want to move from fear of regain and rule-driven eating toward self-trust, steady behavior patterns, and lasting stability.
About the Program
Beyond Rapid Weight Loss is a six-month program delivered fully online. It is a coaching and education program, not a clinical care program. Participants move through four stages of work: Awareness and Pattern Recognition, Rewiring and Regulation, Integration and Aligned Action, and Identity Stabilization. Prerecorded lessons teach the material, homework turns it into personal application, and one-on-one coaching deepens what the homework surfaces. The program runs in two versions: a coach-led version and a higher-support version that adds nutrition and exercise experts. Coaches work across both.
The Role
The Coach is the primary relationship-based support inside the program. You help participants apply the lessons, complete their homework, understand what their patterns reveal, and integrate new defaults into real life without turning the work into another performance project. This is a coaching role, not a clinical one. The educational lessons are prerecorded, so your focus is coaching rather than building curriculum. The Coach does not provide medical advice, nutrition or exercise prescriptions, lab interpretation, supplement protocols, diagnosis, or treatment.
What You'll Do
Deliver one-on-one coaching sessions across each participant's six-month arc.
Support participants in completing and processing lesson homework.
Help participants recognize patterns tied to control, fear of regain, body mistrust, hunger and fullness disconnection, emotional eating, restriction, and performance pressure.
Guide participants through pattern awareness, nervous system regulation, habit anchoring, setback processing, and identity work.
Support behavior change without relying on shame, urgency, perfectionism, or rigid rules.
Help participants treat setbacks as information rather than failure.
Provide asynchronous support within the program structure.
Help participants apply the program's nutrition and movement education sustainably, and in the higher-support version, integrate the nutrition and exercise experts' recommendations without turning them into rules or all-or-nothing cycles.
Recognize when a participant's need falls outside coaching scope and refer to a licensed provider.
Keep clear notes, participant context, and handoff information.
Engagement and Cadence
This is a 1099 independent contractor role, paid per participant based on delivery. Participants join on a rolling basis, and you decide how many you take on. We hold regular volume check-ins, and it is your responsibility to let us know when you have reached your capacity so we can route new participants accordingly. For each participant you serve the full six-month engagement:
A Launch Week onboarding and first coaching session.
Roughly eleven one-on-one sessions per participant across the six months: four in months one and two, four in months three and four, then one monthly session plus a short check-in in each of months five and six as the participant moves toward self-directed practice.
Coaching sessions follow each prerecorded lesson and its homework. Asynchronous support and community access run throughout.
You set your own schedule within the program's delivery windows and hold your participant sessions directly.
Compensation
$700 to $900 per participant for the full six-month engagement, based on experience, paid in installments tied to delivery milestones across the engagement. This is a 1099 contract role; contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.
What This Role Is Not
The Coach does not diagnose, treat, or manage medical conditions; interpret labs; prescribe nutrition, calories, macros, supplements, medications, or exercise; provide medical nutrition therapy; or act as a dietitian, trainer, therapist, or physician. The Coach does not promise weight, body composition, or health outcomes, and does not encourage restriction, over-exercise, or compensatory behavior. Participants are directed to their own licensed providers for medical, medication, lab, supplement, diagnosis, or treatment questions.
Who You Are
Coaching certification, behavior-change training, health coaching background, or equivalent experience.
Strong grounding in behavior change, habit formation, emotional patterns, self-regulation, and identity-based change.
Able to support women navigating body change, fear of regain, and post-dieting patterns.
Clear on the line between coaching scope and medical, nutrition, exercise, or therapeutic scope.
Warm, grounded, non-shaming, and comfortable with nuance.
Able to support change without turning it into compliance, and to build self-trust rather than dependency.
Comfortable working inside a structured curriculum and collaborating with nutrition and exercise professionals.
How to Apply
Email your resume, any coaching certifications, and a short note on your coaching approach to theshalamethod@gmail.com. Please use the subject line: Behavior Change Coach.
