As a Furniture Care Specialist (Subcontractor), you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for delivering high-quality craftsmanship to our residential and commercial clients. You will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in wood refinishing, structural repair, and upholstery across a diverse range of furniture styles and materials.
​We are looking for individuals/subcontractors who are passionate about their craft, pay close attention to detail, and take pride in restoring and enhancing the value of every piece. This is a project-based contract role, offering flexibility and the chance to work with a dynamic and growing company.
​Responsibilities:
○​Wood Refinishing: Expertly stripping, sanding, and refinishing wooden furniture to a professional standard. This includes matching existing stains and finishes or creating custom looks.
○​Structural Repair: Diagnosing and performing durable structural repairs on furniture, such as strengthening joints, replacing broken parts, and addressing wobbles or cracks.
○​Surface Repair: Expertly touching up and repairing minor damage, scratches, and imperfections on various furniture surfaces, including wood, veneer, and laminate.
○​Upholstery: Re-upholstering diverse types of furniture, from chairs and sofas to headboards and ottomans. This involves removing old fabric and foam, measuring and cutting new materials, and sewing or stapling.
○​Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all work meets the high standards of Bear Furniture Care Co. and exceeds customer expectations. This includes maintaining a clean and organized work area and adhering to safety guidelines.
○​Client Communication: Effectively communicating with clients to understand their needs, provide progress updates, and explain the restoration or repair process.
○​Qualifications: ​Proven Experience: Demonstrated professional experience in wood refinishing, furniture repair, or upholstery. A strong portfolio showcasing previous work is highly recommended.
○​Technical Proficiency: Comprehensive knowledge of woodworking techniques, finishing products, and upholstery methods. Familiarity with a wide range of tools and materials.
○​Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to assess damaged furniture and develop effective and lasting repair solutions.
○​Attention to Detail: An unwavering commitment to precision and a keen eye for aesthetics.
○​Self-Motivation: The ability to manage time effectively, meet project deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
○​Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with clients and the Bear Furniture Care Co. team.
