We are an established, full-service public accounting firm seeking an experienced CPA Tax Manager to join our growing team.
The firm provides comprehensive tax and accounting services to privately held businesses, business owners and individual clients, alongside outsourced accounting, financial reporting and business advisory services.

About the Role
Remote Working Arrangement
This position is primarily remote, offering significant flexibility for the successful candidate.
However, the firm would ideally like the successful candidate to live within approximately two hours of the St. Louis office, as there may be a requirement to attend the office on an occasional basis for meetings, team events, training or other business needs.
Office attendance is expected to be infrequent and may only be required a few times per year.
Responsibilities
Manage and review a diverse portfolio of individual and business tax engagements.
Review complex federal, state and local income tax returns, including individual, partnership, S corporation and C corporation returns.
Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to business owners and high-net-worth individual clients.
Manage client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact for tax and accounting matters.
Research and resolve complex tax issues and communicate recommendations clearly to clients.
Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines and deliverables throughout the year.
Review work prepared by staff and senior accountants, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback.
Mentor, train and develop junior members of the tax team.
Assist with tax projections, year-end planning and strategic tax-saving opportunities.
Identify additional advisory and accounting opportunities within existing client relationships.
Participate in new client onboarding and business development activities.
Help maintain high standards of technical accuracy, client service and engagement profitability.
Remain current with changes in federal and state tax legislation.
Work closely with firm leadership on client management, workflow and continued growth of the tax practice.
Qualifications
Active CPA license required.
Required Skills
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
Strong recent experience within a US public accounting firm.
Tax management, supervisory or substantial review experience.
Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation.
Experience reviewing complex tax returns and providing tax planning advice.
Strong understanding of Forms 1040, 1065, 1120 and 1120S.
Ability to independently manage client relationships and multiple engagements.
Experience supervising and developing tax staff.
Strong technical tax research and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines during tax season.
Commercial mindset and an interest in developing long-term client relationships.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while contributing as part of a collaborative team.
Ideally located within approximately two hours of St. Louis and comfortable attending the office occasionally when required.

Pay range and compensation package
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $135,000 – $150,000, dependent upon experience.
The firm offers an extensive benefits package including:
401(k) employer match of up to 4%.
15 days paid time off annually, with some restrictions potentially applying during peak tax season.
Summer Fridays: office closed on Fridays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Tax Season & Work-Life Balance
