Building Attendant

Summary
Responsible for performing semi-skilled manual labor work in keeping offices, buildings and surrounding grounds in a clean and orderly condition.
Pay Range: $16.41 - $18.14
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain City facilities’ flooring by sweeping, mopping, shampooing and scrubbing.
Clean woodwork, furniture, desk, chairs, filing cabinets and telephones.
Complete detailed vacuuming of carpets and other applicable surfaces.
Maintain sanitary condition of facilities by cleaning sinks, mirrors, countertops, toilets and drinking fountains.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
No experience required
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
6 months to 1 year experience in maintenance, custodial services or similar experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
General knowledge of maintenance upkeep
Skill in operating general cleaning maintenance equipment
Ability to work to make independent decisions
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City personnel
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent works in an outdoor and indoor environment; with occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Requires ability to carry 20 to 30 pounds. Tasks require physical labor, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals
