Chief Technology Officer

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is the highest-ranking technology leader in the enterprise, holding overall responsibility for the company's technology strategy, technical architecture, R&D systems, engineering organization, and technological innovation.
This role is responsible for translating business strategy into a long-term technology roadmap and supporting product innovation, business growth, and enterprise scaling by building stable, scalable, secure, and efficient technology infrastructure and R&D systems.
**Core Responsibilities**
**I. Technology Strategy**
Formulate the company's medium- to long-term technology strategy and technology development roadmap;
Ensure alignment between technology strategy and overall corporate business strategy;
Evaluate emerging technologies and their commercial application value;
Determine priorities for technology investment and R&D;
Provide strategic technology advice to the CEO, the Board of Directors, and senior management.
**II. Technical Architecture and Platforms**
Oversee the design and evolution of the enterprise's overall technical architecture;
Build stable, scalable, and high-performance technology platforms;
Establish standards for technical architecture and engineering practices;
Drive the development of capabilities in cloud computing, data platforms, AI, and automation;
Ensure technology infrastructure supports long-term enterprise scaling.
**III. R&D and Engineering Management**
Lead software engineering, R&D, and technical teams;
Establish efficient R&D processes and engineering management systems;
Set standards for R&D quality, delivery, and productivity;
Optimize product development and technology delivery workflows;
Promote Agile development, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices.
**IV. Product-Technology Collaboration**
Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to define product technology roadmaps;
Translate business requirements into technical solutions;
Assess the technical feasibility and development costs of product features;
Balance technical debt, investment in innovation, and business delivery;
Ensure technical teams remain aligned with product strategy.
**V. Technological Innovation**
Establish an enterprise-wide technological innovation system;
Evaluate AI, machine learning, automation, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies;
Drive the application of new technologies in products and operations;
Organize technical research, proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives, and innovation projects;
Establish mechanisms to translate technological innovations into practical outcomes.
**VI. Data and Artificial Intelligence**
Formulate strategies for enterprise data and AI technology development;
Build data infrastructure and data governance systems;
Drive the application of machine learning, generative AI, and intelligent automation;
Ensure data quality, security, and availability;
Transform data capabilities into competitive advantages for products and the business. VII. Information Security and Technology Risk
Establish enterprise technology security and risk management systems;
Oversee application, infrastructure, and data security;
Implement vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and business continuity mechanisms;
Collaborate with security, legal, and compliance teams;
Oversee major technology risks and security incidents.
VIII. Technology Team and Organizational Development
Build a global, high-performance technology organization;
Manage technology teams including VP of Engineering, Engineering Directors, Architecture, Data, and AI;
Lead the recruitment and development of senior technical talent;
Establish a technical talent pipeline and succession plan;
Foster an engineering culture and a technical leadership framework.
IX. Technology Budget and Resource Management
Formulate annual technology and R&D budgets;
Manage resources related to personnel, infrastructure, software, and vendors;
Optimize the technology investment portfolio;
Balance R&D investment with business value;
Improve the return on investment (ROI) for technology.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or a related field;
Master’s degree, MBA, or advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
Work Experience
15+ years of experience in technology, engineering, R&D, or software development;
8–10+ years of senior technology leadership experience;
Experience in senior roles such as CTO, VP of Engineering, SVP of Engineering, or Chief Architect preferred;
Comprehensive experience spanning technology team building to enterprise-scale operations;
Experience managing global technology teams preferred.
