Role Description The Accounts Payable Specialist (Remote) is a full-time role responsible for managing and processing vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and other payables in a timely and accurate manner. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and verifying expense reports, matching invoices to purchase orders, entering and coding transactions, and preparing journal entries related to accounts payable. The role also involves reconciling statements, monitoring payment schedules, responding to vendor and internal inquiries, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The specialist will collaborate with the finance and accounting team, maintain organized documentation, and support continuous improvement of payables workflows while working remotely.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong accounting and finance skills, including experience with accounts payable processes and basic financial concepts.
Candidates should possess the ability to prepare and review expense reports and apply appropriate policies and controls.
Candidates should possess experience with journal entries (accounting), including accurate coding and posting to the general ledger.
Candidates should possess solid analytical skills to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support reconciliations.
Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., QuickBooks or similar, and Excel or Google Sheets).
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Prior nonprofit accounting or fund accounting experience is beneficial but not required.
