About The Role
GrabJobs is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with profound expertise in Magento / Adobe Commerce and practical experience leveraging AI for automation. This remote role, based in the United States, reports directly to the VP of Software Engineering. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining backend systems, APIs, and third-party integrations, with a focus on automation through AI tools. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams—including frontend developers, QA, product managers, and infrastructure specialists—to deliver robust, scalable, and reliable platform capabilities. A significant aspect of this position is identifying manual processes within engineering and business workflows and designing AI-powered solutions to automate these tasks effectively. The candidate should be adept at evaluating AI outputs, ensuring their reliability, and integrating them seamlessly into existing systems, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and reducing manual effort.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, demonstrating strong proficiency in PHP, custom module development, and platform extension without core modifications. Experience creating and extending GraphQL schemas, implementing custom resolvers, and optimizing for performance is essential. The candidate should have a proven track record in building and maintaining REST and GraphQL integrations, webhooks, and handling complex third-party API interactions, including authentication, retries, and error recovery. Practical experience in utilizing AI tools and large language models for automating workflows—beyond simple code generation—is required, along with the ability to design prompts, process structured outputs, and validate AI results. Skills in scripting languages such as Python, Node.js, or PHP to support operational workflows and data processing are necessary. Familiarity with Shopify development, Liquid templating, and Shopify APIs, as well as experience with Adobe Commerce Cloud environments and CI/CD practices, will be advantageous. Strong collaboration skills, experience with version control systems like Git, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly are also vital.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Backend Developer at GrabJobs, your primary responsibilities will include owning the entire backend development lifecycle—from initial design to deployment. You will develop, troubleshoot, and maintain custom Magento / Adobe Commerce modules, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and adhere to best practices. Building robust APIs and integrations will be a core task, including developing GraphQL schemas and connecting internal and external systems via REST, GraphQL, webhooks, and asynchronous processing. A significant focus will be on automating repetitive engineering and business processes using AI tools, APIs, scripts, and workflow automation platforms. You will design solutions that incorporate validation, error handling, logging, and human review to maintain high standards of reliability. Additionally, you will enhance testing and development workflows by writing unit tests, leveraging AI-assisted development tools, and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. Support for Shopify integrations—including app development, webhook handling, and Liquid customizations—will also be part of your role. You will participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and deployment activities, sharing knowledge and supporting cross-team collaboration to ensure high-quality deliverables and continuous improvement of platform performance and stability.
