About the Role
Maas Energy Works is seeking an experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead the company's enterprise-wide risk management strategy and establish a comprehensive framework for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks across the organization.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the CRO will provide oversight across enterprise, financial, operational, project, regulatory, environmental, technology, and strategic risk.
The ideal candidate combines strong risk-management expertise with practical business judgment and experience operating within energy, infrastructure, project development, or other asset-intensive industries.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the company's enterprise risk management framework.
Establish risk appetite, governance standards, policies, controls, and escalation procedures.
Identify and assess financial, operational, project, regulatory, environmental, technology, and strategic risks.
Develop risk assessment methodologies, key risk indicators, and executive reporting frameworks.
Evaluate risks associated with new projects, investments, partnerships, contracts, and strategic initiatives.
Monitor project development and operational risks across energy-related assets and activities.
Partner with finance teams to evaluate liquidity, credit, counterparty, financing, and market risks.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams regarding regulatory requirements and contractual exposures.
Strengthen business continuity, crisis management, and operational resilience programs.
Evaluate third-party vendors, contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners from a risk perspective.
Work closely with finance, operations, engineering, project development, legal, compliance, and executive leadership.
Present material risks, emerging exposures, and mitigation recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, financial risk, operational risk, project risk, compliance, internal controls, or related fields.
Significant leadership experience developing or overseeing enterprise risk programs.
Experience within energy, infrastructure, utilities, project development, industrial operations, or another asset-intensive industry is highly valued.
Strong understanding of risk governance, internal controls, project risk, financial risk, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex business and operational risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
Experience developing risk policies, monitoring frameworks, and executive-level reporting.
Strong analytical, communication, decision-making, and leadership capabilities.
Ability to collaborate effectively across financial, technical, operational, legal, and executive teams.
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, risk management, or a related field; advanced degree or professional risk certification preferred.
