Role Description The Chief Accounting Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Allendale, MI, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions for the facility. This role manages the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, ensures accurate general ledger maintenance, and supervises monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. The Chief Accounting Officer coordinates budgeting and forecasting, monitors cash flow, and supports strategic financial planning in collaboration with executive leadership. Daily responsibilities include overseeing billing and collections, ensuring compliance with healthcare and accounting regulations, managing audits, and implementing internal controls. The role also involves leading and mentoring accounting staff, optimizing financial systems and processes, and providing clear financial insights to support operational and care-related decisions.
Qualifications
Strong accounting foundation, including experience with Accounting principles and practice in a multi-department organization.
Proficiency in Finance activities such as budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
Demonstrated ability in Financial Statements preparation and Financial Reporting, including month-end and year-end close.
Certified Public Accounting (CPA) credential or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
Experience in healthcare, nursing home, or senior care settings is beneficial.
Advanced skills with accounting software and ERP systems, and strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
Proven leadership abilities, including supervising teams, setting priorities, and driving process improvements.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail and commitment to ethical practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree is an advantage.
