Role Summary
Atlan Stormwater is seeking a certified, experienced Power BI Analyst to build and manage all Power BI resources across the business, along with management of the organization's Databricks environment. This role will own the development, governance, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and data pipelines spanning finance and other business functions, while also providing general analytical and business support to the Finance Transformation team as needs arise.
Key Responsibilities
Power BI Ownership (Business-wide)
Design, develop, and maintain the full suite of Power BI dashboards and reports used across the business — not limited to finance
Act as the central owner/administrator of all Power BI resources: workspaces, datasets, dataflows, gateways, and access permissions
Build and optimize data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations for multiple business functions
Establish and enforce Power BI governance standards (naming conventions, version control, data refresh schedules, access controls)
Partner with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions
Automate recurring reporting processes to reduce manual effort
Document data sources, report logic, and maintain a business-wide reporting catalogue
Manage Power BI licensing, capacity, and administration in coordination with IT
Databricks Management
Manage and administer the organization's Databricks environment (workspaces, clusters, jobs, access control)
Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate data from multiple source systems (ERP, Excel, databases) into Databricks
Manage Delta Lake tables, data quality, and pipeline performance/cost optimization
Connect Power BI to Databricks (via DirectQuery or Databricks SQL endpoints) and manage the integration
Implement data governance, security, and access controls within Databricks (e.g., Unity Catalog)
Monitor cluster usage and costs, optimizing for performance and budget
Coordinate with IT on Databricks infrastructure, licensing, and platform upgrades
Broader Business Support
Provide ad hoc analysis and data support to finance leadership and other business functions as required
Assist with month-end reporting packs, budget/forecast consolidation, and variance analysis support
Support process improvement and data governance initiatives across the business
Assist with maintaining and updating finance systems, templates, and reporting tools
Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Finance Transformation function
Flexible support across other business initiatives and projects as capacity allows
Qualifications & Screening Criteria
Must-have
Microsoft Power BI certification required — PL-300 (Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate) or equivalent official Microsoft certification
5+ years of hands-on experience building and managing Power BI dashboards, datasets, and workspaces
Demonstrated hands-on experience managing/administering Databricks (workspaces, clusters, jobs, pipelines)
Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with Delta Lake
Working knowledge of PySpark and/or SQL within Databricks
Demonstrated experience owning/administering Power BI at an organizational level (workspace governance, access management, licensing)
Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M language)
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, relationships, normalization)
Advanced Excel skills
Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming source data
Comfortable wearing multiple hats — balancing BI/Databricks ownership across the business with ad hoc finance/business support
Good written and spoken English communication skills (will work directly with an Australia-based finance team)
Nice-to-have
Databricks certification (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate)
Experience with Unity Catalog and Databricks governance/security features
Experience working with finance/accounting data (management reporting, budgeting, variance analysis)
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Dynamics)
Exposure to Power Automate or Power Apps
Background/experience in an FP&A, finance transformation, or shared-services environment
Experience working with Australian or international finance teams
Additional Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-100 Power Platform, DA-100)
