The role
As part of our Engineering and Sustainment Services team, the Sustainment Engineering Manager will lead the delivery of engineering outcomes to ensure ongoing Combat System availability, providing sustainment support, engineering change management, and stakeholder collaboration to meet contracted and operational requirements.
Further, the successful candidate will:
Lead a multidisciplinary Combat Systems Support team, providing technical leadership, engineering sustainment, and stakeholder advice.
Manage combat system availability, maintenance, technical investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer and operational requirements.
Develop and implement effective processes, policies, and frameworks to drive team performance, compliance, and service delivery.
Oversee budgets, financial performance, and reporting, ensuring value-for-money outcomes and efficient lifecycle support.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience), with professional systems engineering accreditation desirable.
Extensive engineering experience, including leadership of technical teams within defence, military systems, or complex technology environments.
Strong knowledge of Combat Management Systems, weapons and fire control systems, EMI/EMC, RADHAZ, and emission security principles.
Demonstrated experience in engineering program/project management, asset management, and support of complex sustainment environments.
Ability to attain Engineering Level 3 SQEP Delegation and effectively engage with the RAN Technical Support Network.
Proven ability to lead under pressure, balancing operational performance, delivery outcomes, and team wellbeing.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
