What you will do
You will illustrate for a media company's editorial and marketing output: spot illustrations for articles, character art for recurring features, and the occasional cover or key visual when a story needs more than a photograph can give it. You will read a brief or an article draft, sketch two or three directions, and take the one that lands through to a finished, publish-ready piece, usually against a same-day or next-day deadline rather than a long production runway. You will also build a small but growing set of recurring visual motifs the editorial team can reuse for regular columns, so not every piece starts from a blank page.

The company runs media operations at global scale, is building out its India team hybrid from Mumbai, and has partnered with Flexiple, a managed marketplace that helps global companies build high-performing teams in India, to hire this seat. Editors here already think visually; they need an illustrator who can keep pace with a newsroom's clock.
You should bring 2 to 6 years illustrating for editorial, marketing, or publishing work, a portfolio that shows a distinct style rather than one that mimics trends, and real comfort working fast against a deadline without the art suffering for it. Fluency in a standard illustration toolset such as Procreate, Photoshop, or Illustrator is assumed; any comfort with simple animation or GIFs for social is a genuine plus.
