Senior AI Engineer/Python Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior AI Engineer/Python Developer based in India.
This role is designed for an experienced Python engineer who enjoys building scalable, high-performance backend systems and integrating AI technologies into production environments. You will contribute to infrastructure, automation, and engineering solutions that address both development and operational challenges. The position combines software engineering, systems thinking, and AI-enabled application development. You will work with modern Python frameworks, task-processing systems, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies. You will also help integrate numerical learning and analysis capabilities into web and task-based services. As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of projects while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical architecture.
Accountabilities
Develop high-performance, scalable, and maintainable web and task servers using Python and related technologies, contributing to robust backend engineering solutions.
Design and implement server architectures using Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
Build scheduled and asynchronous services using RQ or other task-queuing frameworks to support efficient background processing and automation.
Integrate complex numerical learning, machine learning, and analysis code into web and task-processing frameworks.
Work with REST APIs and microservices to support modular and scalable application architectures.
Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions while helping maintain high engineering standards.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation covering server architecture, code, processes, and implementations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping strengthen engineering practices and knowledge across the team.
Requirements
5–9 years of hands-on experience in Python development, with strong expertise in building production-grade software and backend systems.
Strong experience with Python web frameworks, particularly Django, Flask, and/or FastAPI.
Practical exposure to AI tools and technologies such as OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Experience designing and developing REST APIs and working within microservices architectures.
Strong knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or comparable technologies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines as part of modern software development workflows.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges.
Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, or chatbot development is a valuable advantage.
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, exposure to MLOps tools and workflows, and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments are considered additional strengths.
