OneCNC is looking for an experienced freelance web designer and developer to take ownership of the design and development of a new global website for our CAD/CAM software.
This is a direct contractor role with OneCNC. We are looking for one experienced individual, not an agency or outsourced team.
About OneCNC
OneCNC is an established developer of professional CAD/CAM software for CNC manufacturing, including milling, turning, mill-turn, profiling, wire EDM and CAD.
We have more than four decades of experience developing CAD/CAM software specifically for CNC manufacturing, with OneCNC software used internationally across a wide range of manufacturing industries.
The new website needs to reflect that history and credibility while presenting OneCNC as a modern, technically advanced CAD/CAM software manufacturer.
The role
We are looking for someone who can take the project from initial direction through UX, visual design and development to the completed website.
We want someone who can bring strong professional judgement and contribute to:
• Website strategy
• Information architecture
• UX and customer journey
• UI and visual design
• Product presentation
• Messaging and content hierarchy
• Calls to action and conversion flow
• Credibility and trust
• Mobile and responsive design
• CMS selection and implementation
• SEO and performance foundations
The website
The website should be clean, modern, premium, technical and professional.
The presentation will primarily use:
• Strong product imagery
• CAD/CAM software screenshots
• Toolpath and simulation graphics
• Machined components
• Clear typography
• Strong visual hierarchy
• Concise written content
• Simple navigation
• Clear calls to action
We are not looking for an overly complicated website driven by unnecessary animations, visual effects or large amounts of video.
The main OneCNC products include:
• OneCNC Mill
• OneCNC Turning
• OneCNC Profiler
• OneCNC Wire EDM
• OneCNC CAD
An important part of the project will be taking technically sophisticated software and presenting it in a way that is clear and compelling to prospective customers while retaining enough technical depth for serious CAD/CAM buyers.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a senior freelancer with a strong portfolio and proven experience designing and building high-quality B2B websites.
Experience with technical software, industrial products, manufacturing, engineering, SaaS or enterprise technology would be highly regarded.
Previous CAD/CAM experience is not required.
What matters most is your ability to understand a technical product, ask the right questions and present it at a high professional standard.
Strong candidates will have experience across areas such as:
• B2B website design
• UX/UI design
• Website strategy
• Responsive front-end development
• CMS implementation
• Technical product presentation
• Conversion-focused design
• SEO fundamentals
• Website performance and usability
Design and development
Our preference is to work with someone who personally handles both the design and development of the website.
You should be able to create the visual direction and page designs yourself and carry that through into the finished website.
Content management
The completed website must be straightforward for our internal team to maintain without programming knowledge.
We need to be able to update normal content including:
• Text and headings
• Product descriptions
• Images and software screenshots
• Downloads
• Buttons and links
• General page content
• SEO titles and descriptions
We are open to the CMS and technology used and expect the successful contractor to recommend an appropriate approach.
How we want to work
You will work directly with OneCNC management throughout the project.
We want a collaborative relationship with someone who can contribute ideas, identify weaknesses and challenge our thinking where it improves the final result.
