About The Role

The Mobile Equipment (ME) Procurement team leads the commercial strategy and market engagement for mobile equipment, directly shaping Rio Tinto's safety, cost, productivity and emissions outcomes.
We are looking for a Mobile Equipment Principal Advisor to lead the commercial strategy behind our key strategic programs across mobile equipment. You will shape the commercials for new equipment technology, decarbonisation, alternative supply chains, and major growth projects, turning complex challenges into the deals and decisions that deliver real value across Rio Tinto.

Reporting to the Global Category Manager – Mobile Equipment, you will be required to
Key Accountabilities
Develop and execute the commercial strategy for strategic programs across mobile equipment, including targeted subcategory strategies, refining strategic direction as industry, market, and technology landscapes evolve.
Lead the commercial and contracting approach for HME decarbonisation and mobile equipment technology projects, translating electrification, alternative fuels, autonomous, and emerging technology trials into scalable commercial outcomes.
Identify, assess, and progress alternative supply chains and market insights, cost structures, and industry trends to strengthen supply resilience and strategic positioning, including China-related sourcing and cost-efficiency opportunities.
Provide commercial support on major projects engagements, partnering with growth and capital project teams on fleet selection, sourcing strategy, and investment decisions.
Evaluate and support investment proposals, including preparing presentations and materials for senior leadership and investment committees.
Frame and progress business development, sourcing, and commercial partnership opportunities.
Develop and strengthen commercial acumen within the team, fostering strategic thinking and analytical skills to support informed decision-making.
Engage and influence key stakeholders – including global operational teams, China Sourcing, R&D, and major project teams – to provide commercial support and drive project progression.
Foster a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.
