Role Description The Senior Technical Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at CSIR-CLRI in Chennai. The role involves providing advanced technical support for laboratory operations, research projects, and technology-driven initiatives in leather and allied areas. Daily responsibilities include supervising and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality protocols, and assisting in experimental setup, data collection, and documentation. The Senior Technical Officer will collaborate with scientists, technical staff, and external stakeholders, respond to technical queries, and support training or demonstrations for internal teams and visitors. This position also includes preparing technical reports, contributing to process improvements, and supporting customer-facing technical services as required.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills for data interpretation, problem-solving, and supporting research outcomes.
Effective communication skills to interact with multidisciplinary teams, prepare reports, and engage with external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in technical support, including equipment troubleshooting, system maintenance, and process optimization.
Customer service orientation for handling technical inquiries, supporting client engagements, and ensuring responsive assistance.
Proficiency in laboratory skills, including safe handling of materials, adherence to protocols, and accurate experimental procedures.
Relevant academic background, such as a degree in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline.
Knowledge of leather technology, materials science, or related industrial processes is an advantage.
Ability to work on-site in a structured research environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines.
