Job Family Definition:
The job family spans across multiple engineering disciplines. Work consists of designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting and debugging systems, software and solutions for research and/or research development of product, services, and solutions for HPE’s portfolio. Requires a broad knowledge and application of engineering disciplines, methodologies and tools.
Job Family Definition for Executive Levels only: Directs and manages a diverse team of engineering professionals performing research, development, design and/or implementation of products, services, solutions for the company’s portfolio. Responsible for creating and communicating technical strategy within the organization and/or across the function.
Management Level Definition:
Contributions have substantial technical impact on a significant HPE product/project, or a strategic/architectural direction. Go-to creator and innovator for critical business challenges and opportunities. Substantial, unique contributions provide long-lasting, recurring benefits like time-to-market improvements, cost reductions, or satisfying future and current unmet customer needs. Recognized internal authority on key technology areas. Provides technical leadership to the business for significant project/program work. Responsibilities:
Defines organization-wide architectures and methodologies for design and development of complex products, platforms, systems, software, and technology across multiple engineering disciplines, platforms, and organizations within the business unit.
Makes recommendations on new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships ensuring alignment with technology roadmap and business value.
Creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
Operates as a key architect in shaping the organizational landscape and influencing broader industry engineering standards.
Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates recommendations, updates, and innovations into overall architecture.
Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
Acts as a leader by providing guidance and mentoring to less- experienced team members to set an example of engineering design innovation and excellence.
Contributes to the external technical community through whitepapers, patents, or other significant innovation.
Conducts reviews of material specifications and hardware, and electrical component designs.
Evaluates and selects forms of empirical analysis, modelling, and testing methodologies to validate product designs and specifications.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
Typically 10+ years’ experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Using, evaluating, and developing appropriate engineering design tools and software packages.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
History of innovation with examples of developing new technologies and practices for designs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language, with an excellent ability to communicate nuanced concepts and influence in written and oral communication with a broad vocabulary.
Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals, and negotiate options at business unit, senior organization, and executive levels.
