Senior NetSuite Technical Consultant

Role Summary
As a Senior NetSuite Technical Consultant, you will lead the technical design and delivery of secure, scalable, and maintainable NetSuite solutions for global clients. You will translate business and functional requirements into robust technical designs and remain hands-on across SuiteScript development, integrations, data migration, deployment, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
This is a senior client-facing role requiring sound technical judgment, ownership of complex deliverables, and close collaboration with functional consultants, project managers, client stakeholders, and integration teams. You will also mentor developers, improve engineering standards, and contribute reusable technical assets that strengthen delivery quality.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Solution Design & Delivery
Lead technical discovery, feasibility analysis, solution design, effort estimation, and delivery planning for NetSuite implementations, enhancements, and managed-services engagements.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications, architecture decisions, integration designs, and deployment plans.
Design and develop advanced NetSuite customizations using SuiteScript 2.x/2.1, including Client Scripts, User Events, Suitelets, Scheduled Scripts, Map/Reduce, RESTlets, and workflow action scripts.
Build and maintain custom records, forms, workflows, saved searches, dashboards, and role-based solutions while favoring native NetSuite capabilities where appropriate.
Assess legacy SuiteScript 1.0 solutions and lead safe modernization to SuiteScript 2.x/2.1.
Ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, upgrade-safe, and aligned with NetSuite and internal engineering standards.
Integrations & Data Migration
Architect, develop, and support integrations using SuiteTalk REST/SOAP web services, RESTlets, OAuth 2.0 / token-based authentication, JSON, XML, and file-based interfaces.
Work with integration platforms such as Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato, or Oracle Integration Cloud when required.
Lead technical activities for data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, migration, reconciliation, and cutover.
Design resilient integrations with appropriate error handling, retry logic, monitoring, logging, and support procedures.
Engineering Quality, Security & DevOps
Establish and enforce coding standards, peer reviews, testing practices, naming conventions, and technical documentation requirements.
Use SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF), SuiteCloud CLI, Git, and structured release processes to manage source control and deployments across environments.
Evaluate script governance, concurrency, execution context, permissions, and data volume to prevent performance and security issues.
Apply secure-development principles, least-privilege access, credential protection, auditability, and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
Create unit-test approaches, technical test cases, deployment checklists, rollback plans, and production validation steps.
Troubleshooting, Optimization & Support
Serve as the senior escalation point for complex scripting, integration, workflow, data, and platform issues.
Perform root-cause analysis using script execution logs, system notes, integration logs, and reproducible test scenarios.
Optimize slow or unstable scripts, searches, workflows, and integrations for governance usage, throughput, reliability, and maintainability.
Support SIT, UAT, cutover, go-live, hyper-care, and post-production stabilization.
Client & Stakeholder Consulting
Facilitate technical workshops, architecture reviews, solution walkthroughs, demonstrations, and issue-resolution discussions with clients.
Explain technical options, constraints, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide reliable status updates and proactively escalate scope, architecture, security, integration, or delivery risks.
Contribute to pre-sales discovery, solution approaches, estimates, statements of work, and technical demonstrations when requested.
Leadership, Mentoring & Practice Development
Mentor junior and mid-level developers through design guidance, code reviews, pairing, and structured feedback.
Coordinate technical work across distributed teams and take accountability for quality, timelines, and production readiness.
Build reusable components, accelerators, coding templates, troubleshooting guides, and technical playbooks.
Contribute to technical blogs, case studies, internal training, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
AI-Enabled Engineering
Use approved AI tools to accelerate research, code review, refactoring, documentation, test-case creation, and impact analysis.
Validate all AI-assisted outputs for accuracy, security, licensing, maintainability, and compliance before use.
Identify practical opportunities to improve NetSuite delivery through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience
5–7 years of hands-on NetSuite technical consulting or development experience, including ownership of complex customizations and integrations.
Demonstrated experience delivering NetSuite implementations, enhancements, integrations, or managed-services engagements.
Experience in a NetSuite Partner, ERP consulting, or multi-client delivery environment is strongly preferred.
Proven client-facing experience with international stakeholders, preferably across US, UK, Canada, or Australia.
Experience leading technical workstreams and mentoring developers.
Core Technical Expertise
Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and SuiteScript 2.x/2.1, with working knowledge of SuiteScript 1.0 for legacy support and migration.
Strong experience with Suitelets, RESTlets, Client Scripts, User Events, Scheduled Scripts, Map/Reduce, workflow action scripts, and SuiteFlow.
Strong knowledge of SuiteCloud/SDF, SuiteCloud CLI, SuiteBuilder, SuiteTalk, saved searches, custom records, roles, permissions, and script governance.
Hands-on integration experience using REST/SOAP APIs, OAuth, JSON, XML, and common iPaaS or middleware platforms.
Experience with Git, code-review workflows, environment management, release controls, and structured deployment practices.
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize high-volume scripts, integrations, searches, and workflows.
NetSuite & Business Process Knowledge
Good understanding of the NetSuite data model and business processes across Financials, Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Inventory, Advanced Manufacturing, SCM, CRM, Projects, and reporting.
Ability to determine when requirements should be addressed through configuration, workflow, scripting, integration, or process redesign.
Awareness of OneWorld, subsidiaries, currencies, tax, accounting periods, roles, permissions, and audit considerations.

Experience with Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato, Oracle Integration Cloud, or similar platforms.
Experience with CI/CD automation, automated testing, monitoring, and release-management practices for NetSuite.
Exposure to SuiteAnalytics Connect, SQL, Advanced PDF/HTML templates, SuiteApps, or localization solutions.
Industry experience in Retail, Wholesale Distribution, Manufacturing, Services, or Financial Services.
Familiarity with Agile delivery, Jira, Notion, and technical documentation tools.
