Financial Controller

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead and build our accounting function in the Philippines. This is a key leadership role responsible for establishing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, overseeing financial reporting, and helping build and manage the accounting team as the organization grows.
The ideal candidate will have extensive US accounting experience, strong expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition, and a proven track record of building, managing, and developing accounting teams. This individual will serve as the first senior accounting hire in the Philippines and will play a critical role in shaping the future structure, processes, and culture of the finance organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
Own and oversee revenue recognition processes, including the application of ASC 606 and project-based revenue recognition.
Establish and improve accounting policies, controls, procedures, and reporting processes.
Build, mentor, and manage the accounting team as the organization grows.
Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll, and General Ledger functions.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and cash flow forecasting.
Ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local tax requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
Support strategic business decisions through financial analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA strongly preferred.
At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience with significant US accounting exposure.
Extensive experience preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles.
Extensive experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, particularly project-based revenue recognition.
Strong experience with US tax compliance, including federal, state, and local tax requirements.
Proven experience building, leading, and developing accounting teams.
Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting functions.
Strong proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Xero, or similar platforms.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Controller experience.
Experience supporting US-based healthcare, clinical research, professional services, consulting, SaaS, or project-based organizations.
Experience managing remote accounting teams.
Experience implementing accounting processes and internal controls in growing organizations.
