The Maintenance Leader is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and efficiency of all Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G production equipment within the instant coffee and tea manufacturing plant. This role leads maintenance activities, drives preventive and predictive maintenance programs, minimizes equipment downtime, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, food safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
Lead the maintenance and troubleshooting of Mix, Fill & Pack and R&G Mix & Pack production lines, including:
Mixing systems
Powder conveying systems
Filling machines
Packaging machines
Case packers and palletizers
Conveyors and material handling equipment
Utilities interfaces supporting the production area
Develop and deployment of the preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs.
Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
Analyse recurring equipment failures with Breakdown Analysis and lead root cause analysis (RCA) activities.
Reduce breakdown frequency and production downtime through effective maintenance planning.
2. Team Leadership
Own and lead breakdown elimination systems, maintenance planning and scheduling systems.
Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians and contractors.
Plan and allocate maintenance resources to support operational requirements.
Ensure maintenance personnel are trained and competent in equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
Develop technical standards used to close the competency gaps.
3. Production Support
Provide timely technical support to production teams.
Participate in production meetings and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruptions.
Support changeovers, startups, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
Ensure rapid response to breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs.
4. Continuous Improvement
Drive reliability improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
Implements Manufacturing Operation Systems – roll out plan with hand on approach using the relevant tools.
Support implementation of Autonomous Maintenance in line with AM Plan within shift through adherence to Cleaning Inspecting and Lubricating (CIL), Defect Handling , Centerline (CL) and perform AM Audit and closing actions identified on time in full.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and problem-solving methodologies.
Identify opportunities to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
Support automation and digitalization initiatives where applicable.
5. Safety, Quality & Food Safety Compliance
Maintain compliance with:
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
HACCP requirements
Food Safety Management Systems (FSSC 22000/ISO 22000)
Occupational Safety and Health regulations
Ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed.
Lead safety inspections and risk assessments for maintenance activities.
Support internal and external audits.
6. Spare Parts & Budget Management
Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and critical equipment components.
Coordinate procurement of maintenance parts materials and services.
Own, manages and optimizes maintenance costs and ensure activities remain within budget.
Optimizes the cost for spare parts balancing availability with “Just In Time” replenishment systems.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability.
7. Project Management
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and OEMs.
Participate in factory expansion and capital investment projects.
Ensure projects comply with quality, safety, and engineering standards.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience
Minimum 5–8 years of maintenance experience in FMCG, food, beverage, coffee, tea, dairy, or consumer goods manufacturing.
Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Experience with packaging and filling equipment is strongly preferred.
