About the Role
We are hiring Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to establish and lead research at the Centre in two key areas:
(a) Physical AI — robotics, autonomous systems, robot learning, perception, planning, control, and intelligent automation.
(b) AI in Education — intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning, personalised education, educational assessment, and learning analytics.
As an early member of the research team, the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will take ownership of developing research within their chosen field, Physical AI or AI in Education. Their work will span the full research cycle, from identifying significant research problems and developing research agendas to designing experiments, leading research projects, analysing findings, and publishing research.
The role requires strong research experience, intellectual independence, and the ability to develop and lead research programmes in an emerging research environment.
ResponsibilitiesResearch Leadership
Identify significant research problems and develop original research questions.
Develop and lead research programmes within the chosen field.
Design and oversee rigorous experimental methodologies.
Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of research models, algorithms, and experimental systems.
Analyse research findings and develop new research directions based on experimental evidence.
Establish research methodologies, benchmarks, datasets, and experimental frameworks where required.
Maintain high standards of scientific rigour and reproducibility.
Research Output
Lead the preparation and publication of high-quality research papers.
Develop research proposals, technical reports, and white papers.
Lead submissions to relevant conferences and journals.
Present research findings at academic conferences, seminars, and other research forums.
Build a strong publication and research portfolio for the Centre.
Research Collaboration & Mentorship
Collaborate with academic institutions, researchers, and external research organisations.
Develop research collaborations and identify opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
Mentor and guide Research Associates working within the Centre.
Participate in and contribute to reading groups, seminars, research discussions, and planned publications.
Contribute to establishing the Centre's research culture, standards, and long-term research direction.
QualificationsRequired
Recent Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Machine Learning, Education Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated experience conducting independent research.
Strong publication record in relevant areas of AI, robotics, machine learning, or educational technology.
Strong foundations in research methodology, experimentation, and statistical analysis.
Proficiency in relevant programming and research tools.
Ability to identify and pursue novel research problems independently.
Strong academic writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Preferred
Research experience in Physical AI, robotics, computer vision, reinforcement learning, autonomous systems, educational AI, NLP, or intelligent tutoring systems.
Publications in recognised peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
Experience leading research projects or supervising junior researchers.
Experience developing research collaborations with universities, laboratories, or research institutions.
Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ROS/ROS2, or relevant research platforms.
Experience developing research proposals or securing research funding.
