Senior AWS WorkSpaces Architect - Contract (6 months)

We are looking for a Senior AWS WorkSpaces Architect to join our client's team on a 6-month contract engagement. You will own the architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management of a large-scale AWS WorkSpaces environment, working closely with internal stakeholders and AWS directly. This is a hands-on role requiring deep End-User Computing expertise combined with strong infrastructure fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain AWS WorkSpaces environments (Personal, Secure Browser, bundles, images, directories)
Lead image lifecycle engineering: creation, patching, versioning, and deployment automation
Drive cost optimization through billing mode analysis, cost optimizer tooling, and usage reporting
Build and manage monitoring and automation using CloudWatch, EventBridge, CloudTrail, and Lambda
Manage ServiceNow ITSM workflows for incident, problem, and change management
Lead major incident response and facilitate RCA/PIR/AAR processes
Engage directly with AWS and internal technical teams on architectural decisions and escalations
Required Skills & Experience
Senior-level, hands-on AWS WorkSpaces engineering and architecture experience
Deep AWS EUC knowledge: WorkSpaces Personal, Secure Browser, bundles, images, Directory Service/AD
Strong AWS infrastructure fundamentals: VPC, subnets, DNS, routing, security groups, endpoints
Windows and macOS endpoint troubleshooting
Scripting and automation skills
Experience leading major incidents and driving root cause analysis
Strong communication skills; comfortable leading technical discussions with senior stakeholders
Nice to Have
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps, Advanced Networking)
Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or Citrix
Large-scale WorkSpaces migrations (1,000+ workspaces)
Experience building governance and lifecycle automation from scratch
