Principal Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on Principal Engineer to work directly with the CTO and solve the organization's most complex technical, infrastructure, security, architecture, and AI challenges. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. The ideal candidate should be highly hands-on, comfortable working across multiple technology layers, and able to take ambiguous problems from investigation to solution.
Responsibilities:
Solve complex cross-team production, performance, reliability, and data-integrity issues.
Build rapid prototypes and zero-to-one technical solutions.
Drive architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and build-vs-buy decisions.
Work on security engineering, CVE remediation, threat modelling, and compliance requirements.
Improve Kubernetes/EKS, Linux, container, networking, and infrastructure reliability.
Work on PostgreSQL performance, replication, connection pooling, and scaling.
Drive AI-native engineering initiatives, including agentic coding and LLM-powered workflows.
Represent the CTO in technical discussions, client security reviews, and incident bridges.
Write technical RFCs, architecture documents, decision memos, and postmortems.
Requirements:
8+ years of hands-on production engineering experience.
Principal/Staff-level engineering experience with strong technical ownership.
Production experience in at least 4 of: Python, Go, TypeScript, PHP/Laravel, Rust, Lua.
Strong Linux, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker/container expertise.
Strong PostgreSQL knowledge: replication, Patroni, PgBouncer, locking, performance tuning.
Strong understanding of security engineering, including OWASP, mTLS, token security, IDOR/BOLA, and vulnerability remediation.
Experience with infrastructure/networking technologies such as HAProxy, OpenResty, Cloudflare Zero Trust.
