Technical Solutions Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Solutions Architect based in Canada.
We are looking for a Technical Solutions Architect to help shape scalable, cloud-native solutions for a modern mortgage technology platform.
You will translate complex business requirements into clear technical architectures, blueprints, specifications, and data models.
The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on collaboration across engineering, product, QA, and external partners.
You will influence technology choices, manage technical risks, and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards.
The environment is fast-moving, entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative, with a strong focus on innovation and customer outcomes.
You’ll work with modern architectural patterns including microservices, Domain-Driven Design, and event-driven architecture.
This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates across Canada, with core working hours aligned to Eastern Time.
Accountabilities
Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications, architecture diagrams, data models, and actionable solution designs.
Design end-to-end solution blueprints for new products, platform enhancements, integrations, and other technology initiatives.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools, frameworks, cloud services, databases, and integration patterns based on business and technical requirements.
Ensure proposed solutions comply with established enterprise architecture standards and the broader technology strategy.
Clearly communicate architectural decisions, technical designs, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks throughout the solution design process.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Developers, QA teams, and other cross-functional engineering stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
Work with external partners and vendors on integration architecture and technical requirements.
Promote modern architectural practices, including Microservices, Domain-Driven Design, and Event-Driven Architecture.
Contribute to continuous improvement by staying current with emerging technologies, architectural trends, and industry best practices.
Requirements
8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in a dedicated Solution Architecture or Software Architecture role.
Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; experience with GCP is particularly valuable.
Proven experience designing and implementing reliable microservices architectures.
Strong knowledge of API design and integration patterns, including REST and/or GraphQL and inter-service communication.
Hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture, including patterns such as Event Sourcing and Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS).
Strong understanding of software development methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex architectural concepts to developers, engineers, Product Managers, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to build alignment across technical and business teams.
A continuous-learning mindset and demonstrated interest in emerging technologies and evolving industry practices.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is considered an asset.
French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.
Comfortable working in a client-facing role and developing expertise in the fintech and mortgage technology domains.
