Role Description As an AI Engineer Intern at WhyFired, you will work full time on-site in the Greater Srinagar Area, collaborating closely with the core team to build and refine AI capabilities that power the platform. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing and testing machine learning models for pattern recognition in termination cases, implementing and optimizing neural network architectures, and contributing to natural language processing (NLP) pipelines that analyze user submissions. You will assist in data preprocessing, model evaluation, and iterative improvement of AI systems to enhance accuracy, fairness, and reliability. The role will also involve writing clean, maintainable code, participating in code reviews, documenting your work, and supporting integration of AI features into the existing software stack. You will have opportunities to learn from experienced engineers, contribute ideas to product features, and help build technology that advances workers’ rights and transparency.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts and software development, including data structures, algorithms, and version control.
Skills in pattern recognition and experience or coursework in applying machine learning methods to real-world data.
Knowledge of neural networks, including common architectures and training techniques, and familiarity with major ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Experience or academic exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP), such as text classification, sentiment analysis, or entity extraction.
Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related technical field.
Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in AI (such as Python), and comfort working in a collaborative, on-site environment.
Ability to work with sensitive worker data responsibly, with attention to ethics, privacy, and bias mitigation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a mission-driven organization.
